Without a doubt in our 35 years plus of growing bonsai, this is hands down the best all around fertilizer we have ever used. The best part of it is that it is all organic and it will not harm pets who decide to sample a pellet or two. In our part of the world, Zone 8b, we us Aoki on nearly all plants year around in varying amounts.
It is so gentle that we add it to trees shortly after transplant with no ill effects but rather trees seem to recover from their transplant quicker than they may have.
By far the unsolicited testimonials we received from experienced growers speak to the beautiful color the trees have by the end of the first year of application and the short internodes that are always appreciated by bonsai growers.
Each fertilizer pellet is the same formula. The three sizes are offered for your convenience. Number 4 for instance is a very good size for shohin bonsai. Number 2 is the most commonly used size and it is just the right size for most bonsai and Number 1 is the largest and therefore makes quick work of fertilizing trees in larger pots.
